As horsebox manufacturers and coachbuilders our commercial spray shop team with over 30 years of experience in both the aerospace (military and commercial aircraft) and the commercial vehicle industries have proved invaluable. They paint all vehicles on site in our commercial spray shop giving us the advantage of painting as we build and not completing the horsebox build first and then driving off site to paint. This increases the quality of our finished product in both longevity and looks. Few Horsebox manufacturers or coachbuilders paint this thoroughly. With the Helios brand our commercial spray shop team paint every horsebox at the sub frame stage with 3 coats of protective paint.
Upon the build being completed when it re-enters the spray shop for full painting they spray the underside once more painting any added parts then Waxoyl the whole thing. This attention to detail is only one item that sets us apart from others. The finish, paints and materials are all of the highest quality with new builds and resprays receiving the same attention. Our paint processes include full preparation, etch primer, 2k HS primer, base coat (metallic) and 2k clear coat or 2k solid colour and can use metal flake in the clear coat too. We can design Vinyl decals or use customers own personal designs. We can undertake repairs prior to painting in our fabrication shop where both teams work very closely. For other repairs or alterations the coach building workshop will undertake major repairs and alterations to customers requirements. We have two thermostatically controlled spray shops. The larger enabling us to work on any vehicle up to 32’ long and the other spray shop we use for detail work like bonnets and bumpers.

Coat-X Protective Spray-On Coating

Coat-X our polyurea resin spray-on protective coating completely replaces kick sheet, ramp carpets and heavy rubber mats. Of all the products we have used over the years Coat-X is the only one that fitted our requirements for waterproofing tack boxes, horse areas and horsebox ramps. Because it totally waterproofs and is sprayed at high temperatures it seals wherever it touches. It is light weight and looks like new again after each washing, so strong in fact that it can be power washed or steam cleaned and is more than tough enough to stand horse shoes every day without marking.We have used this product for years and other manufacturers are now catching on. It is down to solid research, investment in machinery and our committed conscientious team of sprayers that the finish in our Helios horse areas and ramps are at the forefront in our industry.
We have been so busy with this product from the start that we run Coat-X as business offering the Coat-X polyurea resin spray-on protective coating to customers with existing horseboxes and even horseboxes being built by other manufacturers. This is another area where we lead the way with other manufacturers having ramps and horse areas sprayed at our workshops. Coat-X is a polyurea resin that has been tried and tested over many years. As a spray-on coating it is very versatile offering abrasion protection, corrosion resistance, soundproofing and waterproofing. It replaces heavy rubber mats and by removing the need for screwing or gluing kick sheets makes for an unrivalled finish.
